Cyclohexane removal and UV post-control of bioaerosols in a combination of UV pretreatment and biotrickling filtration

Biofiltration of hydrophobic and recalcitrant volatile organic compounds faces challenges, the bioaerosols sourced from biofiltration might cause secondary pollution. In this study, combination ultraviolet photodegradation biotrickling filtration (UV-BTF) was designed to treat gaseous cyclohexane, UV post-treatment (post-UV) further utilized for bioaerosol emissions management. Results showed that combined UV-BTF permitted faster biofilm formation had better removal efficiencies (REs) than single filter (BTF). The maximum elimination capacity (EC) BTF 4.4 1.32 g m ?3 h ?1 , respectively. Carbon balance bioreactor both could convert more 50% initial cyclohexane into microbial biomass.
